Here we go! Read these simple steps that can help you connect your Blackberry Playbook to a wireless network in your home. This can help you share files and folders between your Tablet and other devices like your personal computer, laptop, Smartphone, etc.
Pre-Requisites
- Before we proceed with the file transfer, the Wi-Fi setup should be enabled
- Make sure the Wi-Fi and the computer that is required to transfer are connected in the same network
Enabling the Wi-Fi Sharing
- Press the options menu of the BlackBerry PlayBook which is present in the top right corner
- Select storage and sharing
- Select Wi-Fi sharing and turn it on
- Never forget to set the password for file sharing, as it is the secured way of transferring the files
- Once done review the Network name, Workgroup and username of the Tablet
- That’s it! the Wi-Fi sharing is on
The next step would be connecting the Tablet wirelessly to the computer. For this to be achieved successfully, it is necessary to know the IP address of the Tablet.
Identifying the IP address of the Tablet
- As did earlier, tap the options menu in the home screen and select the Wi-Fi option
- Select the Wi-Fi symbol with a question mark which is on the bottom left corner
- The above step will display the Diagnostic information option
- Select this option to view the IP address of the Tablet
Connecting the Tablet to the Computer with Microsoft Windows
We have successfully identified the IP address and enabled the Wi-Fi option in the Tablet. The next step would be connecting the PlayBook with the computer.
- In the Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system, press start and click on Run
- Select the Run command and enter the IP address of the Tablet which you have found earlier
- Once the IP address is entered and press ‘OK’, it will take you to the PlayBook Tablet folders and now you can access folders like videos, images and much more
Connecting the Tablet to the Computer using Apple Mac OS X
- In the Apple Mac OS X computer, look for the Finder and select go
- Next step is to connect to server
- Finally enter the IP address of the Blackberry PlayBook and that’s it. Enjoy sharing the files
